Report of the Chairman of the CSCN to the CRTC on the progress in developing an ENUM trial framework
To Claude Brault:
Attached is CSCN TIF Report 58 re TIF 53 ENUM.
This TIF Report 58 provides recommendations for a Canadian ENUM Trial Framework.
This TIF Report 58 is being submitted to the CISC for consideration and to the CRTC for approval. In addition, a copy is being submitted to the Government of Canada - Industry Canada for its consideration.
TIF Report 58 addresses the need for a Canadian ENUM Trial Framework to enable Canadian entities to conduct trials of ENUM in Canada. The TIF Report makes 3 recommendations as follows:
1) The CSCN recommends that a Canadian ENUM Trial be implemented in Canada in accordance with the attached Canadian ENUM Trial Framework.
2) The CSCN recommends that a new special non-geographic area code (NPA) that would not be activated in the PSTN in Canada be temporarily assigned and used for the purpose of the Canadian ENUM trial. Specifically, the CSCN recommends the use of NPA 688 during the trial, with the understanding that additional NPAs may be used with CRTC approval should it be necessary.
3) The CSCN recommends that a legal corporation be established for the purpose of conducting a Canadian ENUM trial. The CSCN also recommends that the CSCN open a TIF to address the creation of this corporation, its bylaws and, if necessary, a Unanimous Shareholders' Agreement. (TIF attached).
As indicated above, attached to this TIF Report 58 is a new proposed CSCN TIF 69 – Canadian ENUM Trial Corporation, which addresses the need to create a legal corporation for the purpose of conducting a Canadian ENUM trial.
